Chaos Dwarf Dreadquake Mortar WIP

Here’s the final major piece for this Chaos Dwarf commission. It’s been quite on par with previous large pieces from Forge World, by that I mean pretty nice but a hell to put together. This one wasn’t the worse though. There are a few things that were different. First, as it’s on the picture, the blocks are not yet glued together, it’s possible to paint it in small parts. Secondly and it’s quite unique from the other pieces, the mortar rotates. It’s designed in a way that the gears it’s sitting can be kept functioning, a detail but quite enjoyable for the gamer.
Once again, I’ve got a massive base problem as, of course, Forge World does not include a base with it and it’s 18cm long, yes 18cm…I’m going to need a base which is at least 200x120mm…easy. I think I’ll make a mould of this one^^.
Anyway, some putty work then painting…

  3. That is a very cool piece of kit. It would be interesting to place it in a diorama setting that is similar to the images of the deployed railway guns the Germans used in both World Wars (Morser 'Karl').

  6. @Paul: Yeah right^^
@Curt: you're right, could make a terrific diorama. lots of things could be added on the machine itself too but this is for a playing army...
@Ray&Fran: I really should time myself, the building up is probably as long as the painting itself.
