Wyrdscape Solarium

This is part of a new range from Wyrd Miniature and Malifaux game. A steampunk universe but the models are nicely generic enough tio be used in most fantasy settings I'd say. I've been very impressed with the quality, absolutely top notch plastic kit (although without any instructions :( ). The details of the walls are brilliant, insides are great (I closed this one for practical reasons). Lovely scenery available in the shop.

Morgue Master McMourning

A bit of a change of scenery with what’s been going on lately. A miniature from Wyrd and probably one of my top 3 from this brand, I really love it. A real pleasure to paint, it was done in an afternoon.

Unfortunately, I couldn’t take any real good pictures, really disappointed with that. I did it as I’m planning on using it as a displaying mini with the “soon to be released saloon” on the Blog. Hopefully within 2 weeks…


Changement d’horizon un peu et une petite pause avec les travaux précédents. Une figurine de chez Wyrd, elle est au moins dans mes 3 préférées de chez eux, je l’adore. Un vrai plaisir à peindre, j’ai passé une après midi dessus.

Malheureusement mes photos sont merdiques, sisi. Je vais l’utiliser comme figurine pour exposer le « Saloon bientôt disponible à la vente » sur le Blog. Probablement dans les 2 semaines…

Gold Rush Saloon Preview + Francois Lacroix

Something I’ve been working on for a while now and which should be the second kit release after the Fenland well. Something different from my favourite medieval/fantasy theme: an Old West saloon to suit 25-30mm gaming which could be used for Malifaux as well.

So far it’s only been assembled and still needs a bit of tweaking. I’m hoping to start painting it soon but for the available date I’m not too sure as I’m probably moving house soon which means that the Dr. Willett’s Workshop activity will be down for a week or so. I will probably release it after the move, we’ll see…
I’ve also painted Francois Lacroix from Wyrd Miniatures as I wanted an old west type mini to display with the saloon. Lovely gobelin from the bayou with a French name, can’t beat that…I might do his eyes a bit bigger as they don’t pop out at all on the pictures.

Anyway, next update on this will be about the released product.



Un projet sur lequel je travaille depuis quelques semaines et qui sera mon deuxième kit. Quelque chose d’un peu différent de la fantaisy/medieval que j’affectionne particulièrement : un saloon western à l’échelle 25/30mm qui pourrait être utilisé aussi pour Malifaux.

Pour l’instant je n’ai fait que l’assembler et il reste un peu de bricolage à faire dessus. J’espère commencer la peinture bientôt, quand à la date de sortie je ne sais pas trop. Je dois déménager d’ici peu donc ca risque de poser problème et il est possible que j’attende d’être installé dans la nouvelle maison, on verra…
J’ai aussi peint Francois Lacroix de chez Wyrd Miniatures car j’avais besoin d’une figurine style western pour aller avec le saloon. Superbe gobelin du bayou avec un nom français, comment résister ? Je vais peut être refaire ses yeux qui ne ressortent pas assez sur les photos.

La prochaine mise a jour sur ce projet sera sur la sortie et disponibilité du modèle.

Gaming Board for Sale

Gutted to be selling this but I really need to free up some space before moving house. This board was created to play with Malifaux but would probably suit any other skirmish game. It’s overall in excellent condition, no dust as it’s covered at all times, smoke free house. Cats are well behaved and regularly brushed.


All hand crafted and painted by myself.

The water effect is not the best you’ll ever see but it does work. I had some issues with cracks on the edges of the river but I fixed most of them. It could still be improved with putty and paint but I didn’t bother as it does look fine for my standards.

So what do you get?

Dimensions: 90x120 cm (35x47 inches), thickness is 9cm (3, 5 inches).

4 Old West houses (which are movable and could be used on another board) and a water tank (movable as well).

Everything else you can see on the pictures is fixed to the board.

Miniatures from Wyrd are obviously not included.

Je ne vais pas traduire ce post en Français vu que cela ne va intéresser que des gens du Sud de l’Angleterre. Je vends la table que j’avais fait pour jouer à Malifaux. Un peu à contre cœur mais j’ai vraiment besoin de libérer de la place avant de changer d’adresse. Bon, si quelqu’un veut venir de la France la récupérer, je lui vends hein^^. J’ai mis une description technique en Anglais mais les photos parlent pour elles-mêmes.

The Wych Cross circular saw massacre

Sort of a painting update as I had an extremely frustrating week regarding mould making/casting. I think I’m making all the mistakes that you can possibly make. I thought I had read enough about it but there is still lot to learn. The positives are that I’m slowly finding solutions to problems.

Anyway, I managed to finish Sebastian from the Mc Mourning set. I wanted to practice blood splatters and chipped metal. I’m quite happy with the blood; it was actually extremely easy (just painted with an ink). Just noticed while editing the picture that I really need to tidy up his mouth. The chipped metal is not quite as obvious but it’s there. I probably should paint some 40K to practice that….Not much more to add about it, it’s just another really nice miniature from Wyrd.



Quelques « nouvelles » sur la peinture vu que j’ai eu une semaine très frustrante en ce qui concerne la fabrication de moules et le moulage. Je crois que je suis en train de faire toutes les conneries possibles et imaginables, d’essuyer les plâtres…littéralement. Je pensais avoir tout lu sur le sujet mais y’a toujours pas mal à apprendre. Seul point positif, je continue a avancer et a trouver des solutions aux problèmes.

Bref, j’ai tout de même réussi à finir Sebastian du set Mc Mourning. Je voulais pratiquer les taches de sang et les ébréchures sur le métal. Je suis assez satisfait avec le sang, c’était même assez facile (juste peint avec une encre). Je viens juste de me rendre compte en éditant la photo qu’il faut vraiment que je nettoie sa bouche. Les ébréchures sont un peu plus discrètes mais elles sont la. Je devrais probablement peindre du 40K pour pratiquer ca….Pas grand-chose d’autre à ajouter, c’est juste une autre très belle figurine de chez Wyrd.

Basing and WIP

I’ve been working on scenery this week end rather than painting despite being very late on all 3 competitions I plan on entering this month. Some of those scenery pieces will be part of the minis I need to complete so not all time lost.
I started with making a statue which will be the base for the witch figurine I’m painting for the “Arcane contest”. The pictures are self explanatory: I used a priest from the Wyrd range, made a mould and then casted it in plaster. I, then stuck it on a sculpey ruined base, finished it with green stuff. It’s been moulded as I write this.





J’ai essentiellement travaillé sur des éléments de décors ce weekend en dépit de mon gros retard sur les minis que je dois peindre pour les compétitions du mois d’octobre. Certains éléments feront partis des socles pour ces minis donc ce n’est complètement pas que du temps perdu.
J’ai commence en travaillant sur une statue pour le socle du concours chez « Arcane ». Les images n’ont pas vraiment besoin de commentaires : j’ai utilise un prêtre de chez Wyrd, fais un moule puis un tirer un modèle en plâtre. Je l’ai ensuite collé sur une base en sculpey et fini avec de la pate verte. Je suis en train de faire un moule de la pièce au moment ou j’écris cela.



In between, I worked on fireplace scenery and some bases for Malifaux or else. It’s all mainly sculpey and green stuff plus some bits and pieces. It’s all being moulded at the moment.




Entre temps, j’ai travaillé sur une cheminée et sur quelques socles pour Malifaux ou autre. C’est tout en sculpey ou pate verte plus quelques éléments pris a droite-gauche. Le tout étant moulé à l’instant.

Finished third in the painting competiton with my "Convict Gunslinger", page 5 !!!
I spent my winnings by ordering a large plinth from Dragon Forge Design.

Flesh Construct

A quick update....Not much to say about that mini except that it’s found in the McMourning set from Malifaux/Wyrd Miniature . I have been experimenting with rust from a recipe I read on Wamp forum. I saw the same article again on Portal issue number 2. It’s a mini I started a while ago and kind of rushed to finish.
There are lots of competition I want to have a go at in October: Wyrd Painting Contest, Pulp City Painting Contest and Arcane Miniatures Painting Competition. I know my painting is not competition winning quality yet but I like having deadlines otherwise I just never finish anything. It does mean as well that I do paint miniatures from ranges I wouldn’t naturally go to like Pulp City. I really like their stuff but never got a chance so far to get my hands on any of it.
Their online shop is currently closed so I’m waiting to place an order and nobody in the UK seems to carry their stuff.

Then there is the Red Box mini contest deadline nearing too…more on that later on.





Petit message rapide….Pas grand-chose à dire sur cette miniature si ce n’est qu’elle fait partie du set McMourning (Malifaux/Wyrd). J’ai essayé une nouvelle technique pour la rouille que j’avais vu sur le forum Wamp et sur le magazine Portal numéro 2. Je l’avais commencé il y a quelques temps et me suis dépêché de la finir.
Il y a pas mal de compétitions qui m’intéressent en octobre : le concours Wyrd, Pulp City et Arcane Miniature. Je sais que mon niveau ne peinture ne gagnera rien pour l’instant mais j’aime bien avoir des limites de temps imposées sinon je traine toujours. Puis cela me force aussi à peindre des figurines que je ne peindrais pas en tant normal comme celles de Pulp City. J’aime beaucoup ce qu’ils font mais je n’ai pas eu l’occasion de m’en procurer pour l’instant.
Leur magasin en ligne est pour l’instant fermé donc j’attends pour passer une commande et bizarrement personne dans le Royaume-Uni ne semble vendre leurs produits.

Il y a aussi la compétion Red Box Mini dont la clôture de participation se rapproche…J’ai commencé à bosser dessus, donc des nouvelles bientôt la dessus.

Irregular Magazine Competition

I just entered the Irregular Magazine Competition today. I just learnt about that competition last week and decided to run with it. The theme of the competition was Skirmish so I decided to make a mini-diorama Necromunda inspired. I used a model called “Convict Gunslinger”. from Wyrd Miniature and the Malifaux range.I used some sculpey for the base and a control pad from Antenociti's Workshop.

Ca y est, je viens juste de participer au concours organisé par Irregular Magazine. J’avais appris l’existence de ce concours seulement la semaine dernière et ai immédiatement décidé d’en faire partie. Le thème de la compétition était « Escarmouche » donc j’ai décidé de faire un mini-diorama inspiré par Necromunda. J’ai utilisé un modèle qui s’appelle « Convict Gunslinger » produit par la compagnie Wyrd pour leur gamme Malifaux. J’ai utilisé du Sculpey pour faire la base et un panneau de contrôle fait par Antenociti's Workshop.
