I know there’s a whole world out there of people into dolls and doll houses. You just need to visit craft shops and you’ll notice the vast array of stuff you can find for them. It’s not really my cup of tea but I discovered Marion Clayton that does incredibly detailed work with them. It’s not really themed “Dolls for girls”, it’s kind of funny, weird daily life scenes. There are lots of pictures on his website, take some time to visit, it’s well worth it:

Je sais qu’il existe toute une communauté de gens passionnés par les poupées et maisons de poupées. Un des magasins de « Crafts » de part chez moi vends tout un tas d’objets et modèles pour ces fanatiques. Ce n’est pas vraiment ma tasse de thé mais j’ai découvert par hasard Mariel Clayton qui fait un travail incroyablement détaillé avec. Ce n’est pas vraiment les « poupées pour petites filles », plutôt drôle et bizarre, des scènes de tous les jours. Il y a beaucoup de photos sur son site, ca vaut largement le détour.

Joe Bagley’s Paperwork

I said I would keep on sharing artists I liked or/and had some relevant interest to our hobby, so there it is. Paper work has already featured on this blog as I’m secretly an Origami Miyagi wannabee. The artist name is Joe Bagley and if you want to know more about him there’s all the links following.

J’avais dis que j’allais continuer à partager les artistes que j’aime bien ou/et qui présentent un intérêt par rapport au modélisme donc voila…Il y a déjà eu pas mal d’artistes qui travaillent avec le papier sur ce blog probablement parce que je rêve secrètement de devenir un Miyagi de l’origami. L’artiste en question s’appelle Joe Bagley et si vous voulez en savoir plus il y a tous les liens plus hauts.
Comme d’habitude, je ne sélectionne qu’une poignée de mes préférés…

Choi Xooang

Slightly nighmarish and shocking, I find these polymer clay figures quite extraordinary. Be warned it’s quite graphic and there is a fair amount of nudity (the things you have to do to increase your hit numbers!).

Choi Xooang is a Seoul based artist.His work is quite hyper-realistic although it’s sometimes exagerated and very personnal. It’s also an attempt to draw attention to human rights abuses in Korea hence the macabre figures unable to see or speak.

I found it difficult to gather his work online so you’ll have to Google him and look for it yourself if you want to see more. I’m just showing my favourites.


Cauchemardesques et choquantes, je trouve ces sculptures extraordinaires. C’est assez graphique et il y a pas mal de nudité (vous êtes prévenus !).

Choi Xooang est un artiste Coréen. Son travail est hyper-réaliste quoique parfois exagéré et très personnel.C’est aussi une tentative d’attirer l’attention sur les abus des droits de l’homme en Corée d’où les personnages qui ne peuvent pas parler ou voir.

J’ai trouvé assez peu d’informations sur l’artiste de Seoul donc si vous voulez en savoir plus, il va falloir faire vos recherches vous-même.

Loopy Dave

There are lots of amazing illustrators around but once in a while I stumble on one that‘s just so great I feel like sharing the pictures. I couldn’t find any bio about the artist, don’t know where he’s from or anything at all so his work will speak for itself. I find it incredibly detailed, overly cartoonish, very funny, you’ve got to love anything that’s so fantasist and lots of pin-ups which is never a bad thing!
I’m just showing my favourites but there are lots more on his website (lots of commercial work) and on his Deviant Art gallery.

Il y a beaucoup d’illustrateurs de talent mais de temps en temps il y en a un qui me donne envie de partager ses photos. Je n’ai rien pu trouver au sujet de l’artiste donc son travail parlera pour lui-même. Je le trouve super détaillé, sur-cartoonesque, très drôle, hyper fantaisiste et puis y’a tellement de pin-up ce qui est toujours une bonne chose !
Comme d’hab, je ne montre que mes préférés mais il y a sa galerie sur Deviant et son site web.
J’espère que ca vous plaira aussi !!!

Incredible LEGO creations

The work is from Alex Eylar. He’s using those bricks to re-create historical scenes. It doesn't sound like anything new but looking at his website you can see the vast array of themes. From the past to the future, steampumk to zombies, he plays on every popular subject. I particularly liked projects such as “7 dirty words” and “Arkham Asylum”.

The first picture I put up was the famous scene from the Osama bin Laden killing. This scene recreates the moment US President Barack Obama, Hillary Clinton and colleagues crowded round a TV in the Situation Room to watch...

Les créations sont d’Alex Eylar. Il utilise des briques de LEGO pour recréer des scènes historiques. Jusque la rien de nouveau mais en regardant sur son site web, on peut voir la variété des thèmes abordés. Du passé au futur, du Steampunk aux zombies, il touche à tous les sujets populaires. J’ai particulièrement aimé les projets comme “7 dirty words” et “Arkham Asylum”.

La première photo que j’ai mis est celle de la scène de la maison blanche pendant le raid sur le bunker d’Osama Bin Laden…

Anton Semenov

Here are some very inspiring psychedelic Illustrations by Anton Semenov, a Designer from Russia. Some of his characters really made me think about “Pan’s Labyrinth” and Guillermo Del Toro crazy world. I particularly like the pictures from his folder “City of Decay”. I just chose a few random ones but there’s a lot more to see on Behance:

Voila quelques illustrations psychédéliques du designer Russe Anton Semenov. Certains de ses personnages m’ont vraiment fait penser au « Labyrinthe de Pan » et à l’univers de Guillermo del Toro. J’aime particulièrement les images dans « City of Decay ». Je n’ai choisi qu’une petite série mais il y a beaucoup plus à voir sur Behance.

Going West

A while ago, I wrote a post about a Russian collective working under the pseudo “Peopletoo” who were making superb paper work and scenery. I think I just found something that really pushes the thing further. The company is called Andersen M Studio and is based in London. They work in graphic design, animation, film and music. This video is called “Going West”, inspired by a novel from New Zealander Maurice Gee. I find it absolutely stunning; hope you’ll like it too. Check their website too as there is plenty of interesting stuff.

Il y a quelques semaines de ça, j’avais écrits un post sur un collectif de créateurs Russes travaillant sous le pseudo « Peopletoo » qui travaillait avec le papier. Je crois que je viens de trouver une compagnie qui pousse le bouchon encore plus loin. Elle s’appelle Andersen M Studio et est basée à Londres. Ils travaillent dans le design, animation, cinéma et musique. Cette vidéo s’appelle « Going West », inspirée d’une nouvelle de l’écrivain Maurice Gee de Nouvelle Zélande. Je la trouve vraiment superbe, j’espère que ca vous plaira aussi.

They came... They saw... They panicked...

No recent update of what I’m currently working on but I have been real busy working on my houses project. I’ll update on that when I’m done with it and hopefully ready to have the first ones on sale. In the meantime, I thought I’ll share something that really made me laugh. The pictures come from an artist called Aled Lewis, he called the series “Toy Stories”. There are some real little gems in there.

Although this is not related in any way with him, it really made me think about that Belgium/French movie called “A town called panic” from 2009. If you can, do watch it as it’s quite brilliant, weird and hobby sort of related. I’ll just put the link of the official website as it’s almost impossible to describe. That’s the storyline from IMDB:

Animated plastic toys like Cowboy, Indian and Horse have problems, too. Cowboy and Indian's plan to surprise Horse with a homemade birthday gift backfires when they destroy his house instead. Surreal adventures take over as the trio travel to the centre of the earth, trek across frozen tundra and discover a parallel underwater universe where pointy-headed (and dishonest!) creatures live. With panic a permanent feature of life in this papier mâché town, will Horse and his girlfriend ever be alone?

Pas de mise à jour sur ce que je travaille en ce moment mais j’ai été super occupé à travailler sur mes maisons. Je posterais la dessus quand je serais prêt à mettre les premières en vente. En attendant, j’en profite pour partager quelques images qui m’ont beaucoup plu. Elles appartiennent a un artiste du nom d’Aled Lewis, il s’agit de la série « Toy Stories ». Ca n’a rien à voir avec lui mais ca m’a vraiment fait pense à ce film belge/francais « Panique au Village » de 2009. Ceux qui lisent ce post en Français connaissent très probablement. Mark Newman Sculpture

I just stumbled on this artist on Deviant Art called Mark Newman. I found his work quite impressive not too far off miniature work. A lot of his sculptures are 2/3 real life size and he has been doing lots of projects for Cinema, drawings and painting. Je suis tombé par hasard sur cet artiste du nom de Mark Newman. Je trouve son travail vraiment impressionnant et pas très éloigné du monde de la figurine. Beaucoup de ses sculptures sont à échelle 2/3 et il a aussi fait pas mal de maquettes pour le cinéma ainsi que du dessin et de la peinture. Sa galerie sur Deviant Art se passe de commentaires par contre son site web laisse un peu à désirer.
