Mansions of Madness – Michael McGlen

No one messes with Michael McGlen…No one….Hmm; I did a bit, just a tiny bit. He is the second male character of the lot done so far. A typical gangster miniature, I think he’ll be popular with the players if only for his weapon. The mini was pretty horrendous with mould lines again but it was fixable quite quickly on this one. For the painting, I went for a completely different approach. I used the technique explained by “Kings Miniatures” which is massively different from my routine. The idea is to base and pre-shade straight away and then paint with glazes using Matt Medium (short version, feel free to read his post). For a first attempt I’m pretty pleased. You can achieve some basic blending quickly. Obviously, it needs to be worked and practised again and again but it opened a new door for me,  a bit of an epiphany…

Next up, Gloria Goldberg…

A suivre, Gloria Goldberg…

  1. It works well on the suit especially, it's rumpled and creased very well!

  4. Great job! Yes, the tommy-gun is always a crowd pleaser, it seems. I use a variant of this paint method quite a bit - while its a bit fiddly at times it can give some interesting and moody effects.
