Necromancer + Tower WIP

I had this tower on construction for a couple of months now. I decided to enter it for the WAMP II competition. The deadline is around the 15th of February I think and I need to finish a few of the projects I’ve got on so it should be a good timing.

I spent the week end finishing the details and doing a lot of putty work. I might add a few crates, books or urns here and there but it’s finished as far as the building is concerned. I couldn’t take any decent picture unfortunately so that will have to do for now. It did make me think about how I’m going to do to take a few good shots to enter the competition but that’s for later. Next is the painting. Again not too sure about the colours, I’m tempted to do something black but I fear ruining it with an average painting. We’ll see…

I also painted a necromancer; I thought it’d look cool with the tower. I tried to somehow copy the studio paintjob. I think it came out ok.

On verra…

Golfag

The last piece of this “Ogre” commission: Golfag. I’ve got to say I didn’t really like the mini at first. I don’t know why but the advertised version really did not appeal to me. However I did change my mind about it once I started painting it. I think it’s a great mini.

It had all of the problems I encountered from previous Citadel Finecast stuff though. A lot of putty work went into it which I hate to do, that is filling bubble holes.

Anyway, I’m ready to start work on something quite different now. I’ll update soon…

CMON Link

Ironblaster

Still working on the Ogre Kingdom series, I just finished the Ironblaster. It was a nice break from the previous citadel Finecast stuff but was actually quite a lot of work too. I haven’t done a lot of these kits so it was a bit of a learning experience. I painted most parts separately as it’s advised on the notice and then put it together. Some filling and finishing touches were needed after it.

The beast skin was good fun as I copied the studio job on this one. Everything else was painted with the previous pieces in mind to keep it together “army like”. The link is below for CMON not that I’m taking it seriously…

Next piece is Golfag, nearly finished, just need a bit more highlighting and a few details.

CMON Vote

Irregular Magazine 11

This has probably been posted on most main forums but I thought I’d share it too. Issue 11 has been released and is free to download on the link below. What really interested me on this one were the articles about Mordheim and game reviews about Wizard of the coast and Tree frog. There’s a lot more to it of course, lots on RP, miniatures and modelling. But what really put this webzine on top of the pile for me is the Artwork, really, really good.

Just have a look at it; you’re bound to find something that interests you.

Bragg and Skrag

It was great to go back painting after a while out. Here are the latest: Bragg the Gutsman and Skrag the slaughterer from the Ogre Kingdom GW range. They’re both for a commission but I really like Bragg. I think it’s a great mini, full of character and I will pick one for myself. Skrag is a bit of a different story. I like the mini but find the studio paintjob really too gory. It’s a pretty crazy set though.

It was also my first attempt at Citadel Finecast and I thought I would mention it. I know a lot of people have been blasting GW for the poor quality and I’m going to add my voice to it. The castings on these 2 pieces were horrendous. I’ve spent so much time filling bubbles holes and gaps, it was quite annoying. I will honestly consider if I really want a mini from that range before buying it. It did give me a chance to test the liquid green stuff though; you’d think they did it on purpose…

Anyway, next more ogres with the Ironblaster and Golgfag (both of them not too far off)…

Here’s the CMON link for Bragg, I didn’t do one for Skrag as I didn’t manage to get any good picture:

New Space!

I thought I would start the New Year with a few pictures of my hobby room as it’s really what has been on my mind for a while. Since I came back from France about 3 weeks ago, I’ve had to move house straight away, go back to work and celebrate Christmas (a bit of a mixed bag really^^).
Anyway, I now have my own room for painting and casting stuff plus it’s big enough to be some kind of a gaming room.

I’m really pleased with it and so is my wife as I don’t have to cast resin on the kitchen table anymore and store my minis in her underpants drawers.

I don’t know yet how functional everything is, I’ll have to try and move things around for a while. It’s as clean and organised as it’s going to get though. The cat seems to like it too…
